life with Ruby

is pretty great.
She is an incredibly good baby. not to mention beautiful :)

our little family is getting adjusted to life with the newest member more and more each day. For now Ruby pretty much only cries when something is wrong, she is usually very pleasant, and happy to chill with mom and dad.

we may be a little goofy from sleep deprivation, but we're doing well.
Even Emigre is getting a little more used to having someone smaller than her around.

baby photo shoot

i just... couldn't... help myself. a sunny day, a new hair bow, and big, bright eyes. we had fun this afternoon.

Emigre doesn't waste any opportunities to smell as much of Ruby as she can get to. I think Ruby is suspicious of her.

and, i just thought that this was funny.

All three of us are doing great. We got home from the hospital yesterday afternoon, and though we were sort of nervous to leave the hospital (where everyone has answers) to go home (where we're just 2 newbie parents with this precious baby they somehow let us take home from the hospital)... but once we got home, got showered and sort-of settled... we were incredibly glad to be here. So, we're slowly getting used to the new schedule with eating, sleeping, and the strange excitement that comes with a poopy diaper. (we can hardly believe that we feel that way, hah!)

Emigre is doing well, rather needy right now, but being a good dog. She is MUCH more cuddly than she normally wants to be, so we think she's just trying to make sure she's still the top dog. And, while that's true... our definition of "dog" is just more realistic.. hah ha. sorry pooch.

A couple more before we head home

Here are a couple more pics from last night when Ruby got to meet some of our friends. Thanks to Timmy for taking them. Everyone is still doing really well and we'll be heading home from the hospital on Wednesday morning.

30.. and now a baby

We are very pleased to introduce Ruby Inez Saunders. She was born at 4:13 this morning at 19 inches long and 6lbs 7oz. Delivery went smoothly and everyone is doing just fine. Here are a couple of pics to tide you over (it might take a while to compile everything from all 3 cameras that we have with us).

30.. and still no baby

We're one day past our due date now. Baby peanut was due yesterday, on my 30th birthday, but apparently bunking our timeline. i guess Peanut wanted to have an individual birthday, as opposed to sharing with mommy, AND likes to do what he/she wants. i wonder if this is a window into starting to get to know this little one. (ha ha)
so, we're just... waiting. not something i'm good at, admittedly. Hopefully this little bambino won't make us wait much longer. My official response to all the phone calls asking if the baby has been born yet is that we want to "get this show on the road".
And, no. 30 doesn't feel any different than 29. but it did come with some fun balloons and chocolates from our buddies yesterday evening. who can complain about that!!

iBaby

here we are faced with the "white death" (okay, admittedly Ohio's definition of the white death) as we wait for Peanut to decide to be born... I can't decide whether to hope the baby comes tonite or not.. i'm really torn at this point. I'm ready to get this party started please.
Ben, being the ever prepared new daddy that he is downloaded a new "app" to my iPhone today. it's called "iContraction" (that made me laugh), so we can use it to time them once they start coming... it even counts down to your due date (as if we aren't already "painfully" aware of how close it is)—only 2 days to go! (we'll see)

who knew the iPhone would even help us give birth... now if we can just get the iPhone to let Emigre outside to do her business.. then we'll be good to go.
